A treatment for a suitable wire coatHand stripping removes mature, loose outer hairs from a wire coat. It is different from clipping. Not every coarse-looking coat is ready for it, so we check texture and how easily the mature hairs release. Previous clipping and the current coat condition can affect the options. We agree on the approach after that check. How the appointment worksWe work through the coat in small sections, with breaks when needed. The finished shape depends on which hairs are ready to come out. We do not force a uniform result when parts of the coat are not ready. Some dogs benefit from shorter visits that maintain the coat in stages.Assessment of coat texture and readinessCareful hand work on suitable sectionsDiscussion of a practical maintenance intervalBefore arranging a visitTell us when your dog was last stripped or clipped. Please check with us before washing just ahead of the appointment, as we may prefer to assess the coat in its usual condition. Mention sensitive areas and how your dog copes with standing. We explain the expected finish, time and price indication before confirming the treatment.
